Garry, Claire O'Brien Baynes LOUDONVILLE Claire Baynes Garry died peacefully July 14, 2017, at Albany Medical Center Hospital, having lived a full life filled with grace and love. Claire's beauty, humor, spirit, and resilience inspired all whose lives she touched. Born January 23, 1927, in Rochester, daughter of Dr. Arthur O'Brien and Frances Jones O'Brien. She married John Arthur Baynes in 1947, and together they raised 10 children in East Rochester. She completed her B.F.A. from Nazareth College in 1974 and was a certified interior designer. Her greatest joy was family; her eyes twinkling as she told stories late into the night. In addition to her parents and brother, Arthur; she was predeceased by her husband, John; sons, Michael (wife, Lucia; children, Sarah, Emily, Joshua, Patrick) and Brien; and daughter, Mary Grace Ryan (husband, Dan; children, John, Julia, Peter, Claire). In 1989, she married John T. "Jack" Garry II of Loudonville, who predeceased her in February, 2017. Survived by children Ann Baynes Coiro (husband, Paul Starr; children, Alec, Rhys, Claire) of Princeton, N.J., Matthew (wife, Kate; children Sean, Brian) of Eldridge, Md., John (wife, Patricia; children, Katherine, Andrew, Sheila) of East Rochester, Daniel (wife, Susan; children, Erin, Luke) of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Peter (wife, Eileen; children, Thea, Will, Jack) of Delmar, Brendan (wife, Patty; children, Brendan, Jeanne, Liam) of Loudonville, Christopher (wife, Kathleen; children, Emmett, Anna) of Albany; stepchildren, John Garry, Michael (Janet) Garry, Regina McCormick (Al), Maureen Torncello (Dave), Suzanne Darves-Bornoz (Daniel); and 13 great-grandchildren. Claire also embraced her role as grandmother and great-grandmother to her beloved Garry family grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also survived by siblings, Virginia Swanton, James (Louise) O'Brien and Sheila (Richard) Finewood. The family thanks caretakers Queenie Barnhill and Karen Lovrin for their loving care which enabled Claire to stay in the home she loved. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 21, at 12:30 p.m. at St. Jerome's Church, East Rochester. Burial in the Oakwood Cemetery, Penfield. Calling hours are Thursday, July 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen St., Albany.
