Salmeri, Clementine
ALBANY - Clementine “Tina” (Sacca) Salmeri, 85, died after a relaxing day on the beach in the early morning hours of September 1, 2025. Born on April 21, 1940, in Albany, NY, Tina was the daughter of Alberto and Maria Francesca (Pagliarulo) Sacca. Tina graduated from Cardinal McCloskey High School in 1958 and married her high school sweetheart, Anthony “Tony” Salmeri. They lived and raised their five children in Newington, CT and then moved to Old Saybrook, CT, and Ramona, CA. After Tony’s passing, Tina moved to North Fort Myers, FL, Farmington, CT and Winsted, CT.
Born into a restaurateur family, Tina would help at the family business, Al’s Italian Restaurant in Albany, NY. She carried her work ethic into all she did. A master seamstress, Tina created costumes for Newington Children’s Theatre based solely on sketches from the director. She and Tony were the proprietors of TNT Ceramics in Newington for 20 years, where she taught and practiced ceramic arts. Tina was a devoted Associate of the Sisters of the Cross & Passion at Our Lady of Calvary Catholic Retreat.
Tina is survived by her brothers, Alfred (MaryLou) Sacca, Albert (Jeanne) Sacca, and Louis Sacca. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her children, Joseph (Elaine Mayo) Salmeri of Southington, CT, Mary Beth (Thomas Benson) Arcidiacono of Niskayuna, NY, Denise (Peter) Murphy of Avon, CT, Anne Marie Salmeri of Manhattan, NY and Anthony “Tony” (Tracy) Salmeri, Jr. of Ramona, CA and Winsted, CT. Tina’s love continues with her grandchildren, Sarena Salmeri, Cody Lowit, Kevin (Stephanie) Salmeri, Nicholas Salmeri, Theodosia Arcidiacono, Anthony Arcidiacono, Vito Salmeri, Nico Salmeri and Leo Arcidiacono and her first great-grandchild, Alessio Salmeri. Tina was beloved by many nieces and nephews, many of whom she helped raise when they were young and whom with her passing, have lost a second mother of sorts.
Besides her husband Tony, Tina will join in Heaven her beloved sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosalie (Chuck) Motta, Theodosia (Charles) Swinyer, and Antoinette (Frank) Motta, along with her brothers, Giacomo, Nick and Donald.
Tina’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, September 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 23, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, 1803 Union Street, Schenectady, NY. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush, NY.
