Kelly, Daniel P. BALLSTON LAKE Daniel P. Kelly, 85, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, on April 30, 1932, he was the son of John and Martha Kelly. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany from 1951-1953. Dan attended Empire State College and Long Island University, earning a master's degree in public administration. Dan was a New York State policeman for 25 years, retiring in 1979, as a captain. He then worked at Knolls Atomic Power Lab as chief of security for 13 years. He enjoyed watching his Yankees, the Giants and reading the Wall Street Journal. Dan and his wife spent many beautiful days at the beach together. Dan was known for his kind and compassionate heart. His tenacity and grit were what made him successful at everything he did in life. Dan was a dedicated and loyal man who was well respected by all who knew him. Dan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Norma, who was his "lottery ticket for life"; and their children, Theresa Penttila(Mike), Desiree Kelly, Daniel Kelly (Janet) and Thomas Kelly (Susyn). His seven grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Alec, McKenzie, Mason, Rebeka, Daniel, Ariden and Kevin; sister, Eileen Touhey. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Grace; and his brothers, James, Jack, Maurice and William. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, January 19, at St. Mary's Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial with military honors will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, January 18, from 2 - 4 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High St., Ballston Spa.
