Raymo, Daniel J.
DELANSON - Daniel J. Raymo, 81 of Duanesburg, N.Y., died August 19, 2023, peacefully in his sleep after several years of progressive medical issues. Dan was born in Massena, N.Y. in 1942, son of Ted Raymo and Ruth Facteau.
He graduated from Norwood-Norfolk High School in 1960 and attended the State University of New York at Albany, graduating as a specialist in school psychology. He was employed as a school psychologist for Rensselaer-Columbia-Greene County BOCES for approximately 30 years, retiring in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Marge Neville Raymo, of 45 years; his sister, Barbara Raymo and brother-in-law Bob Fotter; nephew, David Niznik and his children, Andrew, Brian and Elizabeth and her husband Isaiah.
Dan's quest of why people act the way they do and his love of the outdoors and hiking/kayaking, contributed to his intense passion for photography with his Nikon cameras. He took thousands of pictures over his lifetime capturing the stillness of beauty in nature and the mystery of people in stillness. Dan was a self-taught harmonica player and gave enjoyment whenever he decided to play. He also enjoyed metal detecting with his long-time friend Paul. Dan had a wry sense of humor. He loved good food but it was usually good only to his taste buds so, at some point, he took up cooking, recipe cards and all.
He was always loving to his wife Marge and, during the last several years, he was especially unselfish and attentive to her needs, perhaps more so than to his own.
The family would like to thank the Demarco-Stone Funeral Home for their assistance at this very difficult time.
There will be a private burial at a future date to be determined by the family. There are no services scheduled at this time.
