David Durrick Obituary

Durrick, David J.
MIDDLE GROVE - David J. Durrick, 76, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Saratoga Hospital, after courageously battling a long illness. Born on September 21, 1949, in Rensselaer, N.Y., he was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Davis) Durrick.
David's lifelong love story began on the shores of Saratoga Lake, where, at just 16, he met the girl who would become his wife. He married the former Barbara A. Stark, and together they built a beautiful 55 year journey rooted in devotion, laughter, and family.
A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, Dave served in the Philippines, Vietnam and at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, in Missouri. He returned back to the area in 1973 and settled in Latham to raise his family. He enjoyed a long career as an insurance salesman, ultimately retiring from Nationwide Insurance Company.
Dave embraced life with curiosity and gusto. A self-proclaimed foodie, he loved to cook and savor a good meal. His passion for boating and fishing was born in childhood summers on Saratoga Lake and remained a constant source of joy throughout his life. He also found fulfillment in music, playing guitar and performing with a local band at venues across the Capital District.
In his later years, nothing brought Dave greater happiness than his grandchildren. They were the light of his days, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, and the deep love he carried for his family.
He was the beloved husband of Barbara A. (Stark) Durrick; father of Lisa (Marc) Durrick-Horwitz and the late David Durrick Jr.; grandfather of Elana Durrick, Zachary Horwitz and Emma Horwitz; brother of Frank Durrick Jr.
Funeral will be held privately, and Dave will rest in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Rd., Ballston Lake, and they encourage you to view and leave messages on Dave's Book of Memories at www.TownleyWheelerFH.com

I am so deeply sorry to hear the news of Dave's passing. We grew up together in Rensselaer, brought together by music. It seems like yesterday that we would sit together with our friend JP Clemens to play guitars and learn the music of those days now gone. Every so often we would meet for lunch and talk about our families and plans for the next phase of our lives. Health kept us from any future meetings. I miss him so much. My thoughts and prayers are for Dave, the Derrick family and Big Brother Frankie.
