David Iselin
Iselin, David WASHINGTON, D.C. The world lost a loving and courageous soul when David Facher Iselin died unexpectedly from cardiac arrest on March 3, 2018. David was born on March 10, 1989, the first son of his loving parents, Lauren and Harold. He attended Bethlehem schools and spent many summers at Camp Skylemar in Maine. David was active in the Congregation Beth Emeth youth group and served as an officer. In 2011, David graduated from Vassar College. While there, he was a member of his house team and co-chaired the senior gift campaign. As a co-chair, David was privileged to speak at the commencement - an honor of which he was quite proud. Following graduation, David worked in a series of jobs in Washington, D.C., before attending American University Business School from which he graduated in 2017. At the time of his death, David was working as the business development manager for Destination DC. David faced much adversity in his short life. He suffered from Crohn's disease and a rare kidney ailment. David faced his health challenges with courage and good spirit. He never let his ailments get him down and he maintained an optimistic and cheerful attitude. He persevered and was always a wonderful son and big brother as well as a loyal friend. Always thoughtful of others and mindful of his own health issues, David donated his organs to those in need. In 2015, David met his soulmate, Abby Himmelrich. Abby and David were a perfect fit, and her family welcomed David with open arms. David and Abby were busy planning their future together even on the day that David died. Abby's family welcomed David into their family and he loved being part of it. David is survived by his parents, Lauren and Harold; his loving brothers, Alex and Michael; his grandfather, Alan Iselin; his loving aunts, Gayle, Joanne and Marcy; his cousins, Sam, Max, Corey (Jamie), Justin (Maggie) Dana, Julia, Evan (Chrissy), Glenn (Jenn) and Dana (Rob); as well as by Abby and her loving family. David was adored by his grandparents, Barbara Iselin and Lois and Marvin Facher; and his aunt, Linda Richards and his uncle, John Engel, who predeceased him. Services will be held at Congregation Beth Emeth on Tuesday, March 6, at 12:30 p.m. Prior to the service, David's family has requested privacy and will not be receiving. The family will be sitting shiva on Tuesday and Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in memory of David to the Congregation Beth Emeth CBEYG Fund in Albany. Harold, I learned of David's passing today. Based on his life's story, you and his mom obviously helped him find wonderful places to live, play, study and work. His experiences were interesting, fun and rewarding, and you should feel proud about the life he lived and the years you shared with him. Best wishes and sincere condolences.

Dear Lauren and Harold,

We are so sorry to learn you have lost your amazing son David. Two particular times stand out in my mind. The first time I met you, Lauren, I think, was in Richard's store when you were there with your 3 enthusiastic little adorable boys , I say little because that was 21 years ago. And another time, since we lived across the street from each other, I stopped to talk to you and ask about the boys and I think it was David's first summer at overnight camp and now I have read about how important that camp was to him.You are such involved, giving individuals and so it is easy to see how much loving and giving you instilled in David. Thinking of you with caring, along with so many others. Marcia and Richard Schaefer

Dear Harold and Lauren, My heart is breaking for you. I am so deeply sorry about the loss of your beloved son. While I never met him, I always enjoyed seeing some of the family photos on Harold's FB page. What a handsome young man and upon reading about his life, I see what an incredible person you raised. He certainly had it all with such a bright future ahead of him. I know there are no words possible to make you feel any better at this devastating time. This is a loss like no other. I will keep you, your sons, your father and the rest of your family in my prayers. My deepest, most sincere sympathies to you.

Dear Iselin Family,
I'm so saddened to learn of David's passing. David was in my Financial Accounting class at Kogod Business school. He was one of the smartest students I've ever had. He got the highest grade among 30 students in my class and always carried a smile. I feel so sorry that we lost an intelligent, highly-motivated and kind young man. All his classmates and teachers will always remember him.

When someone we love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure. Therefore, cherish the times spent with loved ones-draw strength from the love of family and friends-and may God's word and his loyal love comfort you and help you through this difficult time. Psalms 119:50,76

Dear Harold, Lauren and your entire family, There is nothing I can possibly say at this time except I am so very sorry for this tragic loss to your family. Since Harold joined our professional family at Greenberg Traurig years ago, we were blessed in so many ways, and he often speaks of his actual family members with real love, affection and pride. He has told me about David and his challenges, and we shared an event to raise money for certain illnesses he fought. I will be there with you all tomorrow, nothing could keep me from being with you now, but the thousands of your GT family members all over the country and world are also with you in spirit and love at this time. Harold truly represents all that is great, all of the values we hold dear, I am certain David did so as well. We wish all of your family strength, love and peace at this terribly difficult time. May God bless you all.
