I just found out today of Mr. Maxwell's passing. I have tears in my eyes as I remember his golden personality, gentleness, and sense of humor. He was my teacher at WHS and my colleague when I taught Russian there. He loved all his students. He offered kindness when others didn't. What a wonderful man. I'm so sorry you have to suffer such a loss too soon. God keep you in His comforting embrace and when I get to Heaven, I'll look forward to giving Mr. Maxwell a great big hug.

Most sincerely,

"Max" was a great guy who truly loved his students and you knew that whenever you were around him. From him, I gained a love of NYC, as he and Prof Thomas offered several $5 bus trips to any senior who wanted to participate. We always had the best of times on those trips and made many memories I still cherish today. Now my husband (also a Watervliet graduate) and I bring our 2 little girls there and show them all the sights that "Prof and Max" introduced us to. Thank you, Max for all that you did for your students. You will always be fondly remembered.

I wish I had not missed the wake. Mr. Maxwell was and always will be one of the most influential people in my life. Having attended Watervliet HS. Mr Maxwell was voted our favorite teacher (class of 95). Senior year he drove a hunter bus for free to six flags for our class trip. He was the very best guy, friend and teacher anyone could ever ask for. We would occasionally joke around and he would say "mahoney, your a disgrace to the irish heritage" playfully of course, and we'd share a good laugh. I learned so much from Mr. Maxwell in the 4 years I was at Watervliet High. I know that he was working part time I'm sure up until his last day. I saw him 4 years ago when he drove a shuttle for my friends wedding at Glen Sanders. He said that he was continuing to work to help pay for college expenses. He was such an inspiration, and a role model to anyone who ever met him. I was lucky to have him and know him.. And I'm sure that you're family feels the same way. I grieve your loss and my heartfelt apologies go out to your family. He was the very best and I'll always have a special place in my heart for him. Daniel Mahoney class of 95.

To Dave’s Family,
Dave was our travel group’s driver of choice for many years until his illness. We didn’t have to know him very long before realizing he was a very special person. His love for his family was foremost in his life. On every trip we had to Boston or NY, he would meet his daughters and treat them to lunch. He was so very proud of both of them, it showed in his glowing smile every time he updated us on their lives. What a blest family you are to have had Dave. He is smiling down on you now and will continue to assure that all your needs are met. We are very sorry for you in this sad time.
