Dawn Hopper Obituary

Hopper, Dawn Marlena
ALBANY - Dawn Marlena Hopper, born in Albany, N.Y., February 1, 1957, passed at home on October 21, 2025, with her dedicated husband of 36 years, David J. Hopper, by her side.
Dawn was the beloved daughter of the late Daniel and Barbara Plesser of Albany. Sister to Martin Plesser (Ellie), Mary, Rhoda, Carol, Walter; and the late Linda Limbacher; and mother to Justin (Dani) Storr, Emily (Robert) Storr, Melissa (Donald) Hopper, Michael (Justina) Hopper, and Matthew (Sarah) Hopper. "Nona" to Matthew, Austin and Aiden Sanford, Harper Hudgins and Jack Monaghan, Sean Ryan McCarthy, William, and Maxwell Hopper. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dawn was a forced to be reckoned with! Extraordinarily brilliant, she captivated and inspired everyone around her. A graduate of Albany High School, she continued on to SUNY Albany, where she received her Master's in Statistics, she continued as an adjunct professor while working on her doctorate in psychology. She then became a professor at Hudson Valley, where she was adored and admired by her students for 20 years before her retirement. Dawn had the ability to make everything bigger and better, her zeal for life knew no bounds. After marrying the love of her life, David, she remained a close and dedicated friend to her ex-husband, Charles Storr. People were drawn to her absolutely larger than life personality. She built a big and beautiful family, peppered with family dinners, where her outstanding home cooking took center stage, amazing vacations, uncountable belly laughs, and a legacy of love, that will be carried through the generations.
Those wishing to remember Dawn in a special way, can make memorial contributions in her name to a charity of your choice.
Funeral services for Dawn will be held on Thursday, October 23, at 10 a.m., at The Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave., in Albany. Burial will follow at Temple Israel Cemetery in Guilderland.

Family,

Dawn was afraid of nothing. She was a force to be reckoned with for sure. I have an email she sent telling me about you all when we connected after years of going about our lives. May she rest in peace and God Bless you all at this difficult time.

Dawn was one of a kind! Brilliant mind, talented cook, designer, gardener. Hilarious, sensitive, tireless advocate, dedicated friend and mothered us all. I have many unforgettable images of our time together. Her spiritual force is undeniable and indelible on those who we´re fortunate to know and love her.
