Filippino, Dominic A. TROY Dominic A. Filippino, 87 of Troy, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, at Van Rensselaer Manor. Dominic was born November 2, 1933, in Albany, the son of the late Carmine and Caterina (Baggetta) Filippino. Dominic was a graduate of Philip Schuyler high School class of 1953 and then was drafted into the service during the Korean Service. Dominic loved to read, play bingo and do his crossword puzzles and traveled all over the country. Dom was a senior stenographer for NYS Department Audit Control for over 36 years before retiring. Survivors include his siblings, Frank Filippini Sr., Rose Smith, Eda Filippino, Yolanda Filippini, Nicholas Filippini; proud uncle of Joseph Gimondo, Joanne Braddock, Vinney Filippini, Diane Nardacci, He was predeceased by a sister, Amelia Gimondo; and a niece, Jeanne Gimondo; Frank Filippini Jr., Darlene Omara (Smith). He is also survived by many cousins and great-nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his calling hours Tuesday afternoon 11 a.m. -1 p.m. with funeral services at 1 p.m. at the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk, Rensselaer, NY 12144. Melvin Roads American Legion Post 1231 is located at 200 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush, NY 12144 . The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful staff at the Van Rensselaer Manor for their service that was above and beyond the call of duty.
