COHOES - Donald "Ledgie" Lajeunesse, 82, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 23, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and educated in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Clarence and Eunice Daniels Lajeunesse.
Don was a lifelong resident of the city of Cohoes. He worked as a welder for Bell-Fab Manufacturing in Waterford for 21 years, and then at Wildwood School in Guilderland for 18 years, until his retirement.
He was an avid outdoorsman, who especially enjoyed duck hunting and fishing. He also was a woodworker and an all-around handyman who could fix anything. In his younger years, he loved racing his Mustang and riding his motorcycle with his best friends, Billy and Skip.
Don will be best remembered for his great sense of humor. He had an ability to light up a room and was truly the "Family Fun Guy" who livened up every gathering with his wit and personality.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Patricia Haughney Lajeunesse; by his beloved son, Daniel Lajeunesse (Chris Church) of Schenectady; by his brothers, William Lajeunesse of Cohoes and Paul Lajeunesse (Yvonne) of Halfmoon; and by his "grandpuppies," Augie and Eugene. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Clarence Lajeunesse Jr., Charles Lajeunesse, Judith Nahumyk, Karen Yando, Joyce St. John and Faith Lajeunesse.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m., in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Monday, from 5-8 p.m.
