Donald Pemberton Obituary

Pemberton, Donald R. BURNT HILLS Donald R. Pemberton, 67, of Burnt Hills, died peacefully at his home on November 19, 2008 surrounded by his family. Don was a technology and driver education teacher in the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake School district for 40 years. He truly loved teaching, taught joyfully, and saw in each student true potential. Many current members of the Burnt Hills community remember him as an inspiration and a mentor. He was very active in the Burnt Hills community including time as a coach, scout leader, volunteer fireman, and local committee member. He was born in Waddington, N.Y., a small community on the St. Lawrence River, where his love for nature and boating began. He was the son of James Wesley Pemberton and Frances Driscoll Pemberton. He was predeceased by his first wife of 20 years, Lorraine Mackos Pemberton. He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Forman-Pemberton of Burnt Hills, N.Y.; his two sons, Brent Donald Pemberton (Angela) of Albany, N.Y. and Carey James Pemberton of Greensboro, N.C.; his stepson, Todd Forman (Amy); and his children, Megan and Connor of Holliston, Mass.; his stepdaughter, Jenny Marcotte (Jeff) and her sons Zachary and Evyn of Corinth, N.Y.; his sister, Susan Brown of Waddington, N.Y.; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Family was the number one priority in Don's life. He would always arrive to help with a project early, eager, completely prepared, and with a van full of tools. If there was a wall in the way, he made a door. Any left-over time was devoted to his Harley, his boats, his cars, his tractor-and most anything with wheels and a motor. Calling hours will be held at the Townley-Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road (Route 146A), Ballston Lake, N.Y. on Sunday, November 23, 2008 from 1-5 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Burnt Hills United Methodist Church, Route 50, Burnt Hills, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2008. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Human Services at 543 Saratoga Road, Scotia, NY, 12302; Saratoga Community Hospice, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866; or the Ballston Lake Ambulance Squad, 1123 Route 146A, Ballston Lake, NY 12019.

Though it's been years since I have been in the same school as the Forman-Pembertons, I was deeply saddened when I read of this loss. It truly is a loss to the world. My sincerest sympathies to the family.

Dear Mrs. Forman-Pemberton,
I will never forget how your eyes lit up with joy when we asked you if the rumor you were marrying Mr. Pemberton was true. Later, in Brit. Lit., whenever you talked about him your eyes would shine with such love. I hope your years together have left you with many beautiful memories to help you through this difficult time. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
