Doris Platania Obituary
EAST GREENBUSH - Doris (Gassdorf) Platania passed on October 9, 2024, just five days short of her 94th birthday, after a brief illness.
Doris was happily married to Joseph Platania for 57 years, until his death in 2008.
She is survived by her four loving children, Paul Platania (Susan), Jane Platania (Jefferey Rosch), Kathy Newswander (Doug) and Joseph Platania (Joyce). Seven beautiful grandchildren enjoyed her special love - Melanie Staucet, Doug Newswander Jr., Alexandra Vooris, Thomas Rosch, Shannon Sprague and twins, Charlotte and Natalie Platania. She is also survived by several dear great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Margaret Gerace is her beloved sister.
Doris was very giving and kind. She loved bringing family and friends together for good food, conversation, and a lively game of cards. Her long, healthy life was filled with travels, both near and far. She carried on her mother's love of baking, always sharing with others. All of Doris' children inherited her love of gardening.
According to Doris' wishes, there will be no services.
Donations in memory of Doris may be made to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
