Dorothy MacMillen Obituary
DELMAR - Dorothy S. MacMillen, 88 of Delmar, passed away on June 10, 2023.
She was born in Albany on May 3, 1935, to the late Anna (Wagner) and Alan Sexton. Upon graduation from Bethlehem Central Schools, Dorothy began and completed her career as an administrative secretary for the New York State Thruway Authority. She was married to John N. MacMillen for 54 years. Dorothy was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Jubilate Singers. She enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband, reading, gardening, baking and sewing. Dorothy was a strong supporter of the Albany City Rescue Mission.
Surviving are her stepdaughters, Nancy (William) Barber of South Burlington, Vt., and Laurel (Robert) Scudder of Fredonia, N.Y.; her son-in-law, retired Chief Master Sgt. Michael Taylor of Norfolk, Va.; nine grandchildren, retired Col. Michael (Connie) Taylor, Dayna (Chris) Kinner, Chaplain (Capt.) Allan (Tiffany) Taylor, Dr. Daniel Barber, Julie (Dale) Pluss, Erin (Damon) Ayer, Ashley (Scott) Emser, Kyle Scudder, and Dr. Joshua Barber; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Beryl Anderson and Leah Miller; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John MacMillen; and stepdaughter, Shelly Taylor.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 85 Elm Ave., Delmar on Tuesday, June 27, with visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

I have such fond memories of Dorothy. Many years ago I was Dorothy and John´s hairdresser and remember them bringing me the best pickles "from Dorothy´s kitchen and John´s garden". What a lovely couple and now they are once again united.
