Edwin Engel Obituary

VALATIE Edwin A. Engel (Ed), 81, of West Shore Dr., Valatie, N.Y., died Friday, January 24, 2003 at his home. Ed was born in Albany, N.Y., March 17, 1921 and was the son of the late Edmund and Pauline (Shaffer) Engel. Prior to the Second World War, Ed was in the U.S. Army stationed overseas. During the war, he was in the European Theater of Operations. He was with the military for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth-mary (Hurley) Engel; father of Paul T. Engel of Malden Bridge, Patricia A. McIntyre of North Chatham, Maria E. Ruggiero of Valatie and the late William T. Engel. He is also survived by two granddaughters, four grandsons, and one great-granddaughter. He is the brother of Jean Wilson of Troy, Shirley Ogren of Colonie, Robert Engel of Watervliet, Ronald Engel of West Sand Lake and the late John, Donald and Gerald Engel. Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:30 a.m. from the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Rt. 9, Valatie with the service conducted by the Rev. John Molyn. Interment with military honors will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in the spring. Relatives and friends may call Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
