Eileen Glodny Obituary

Fitzsimmons Glodny, Eileen
LOUDONVILLE - Eileen Fitzsimmons Glodny, Professor Emeritus, of Loudonville, N.Y., passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on December 16, 2024. Eileen, the daughter of James A. Fitzsimmons and Gladys M. McGrath Fitzsimmons, was born in Alhambra, Calif. She was the beloved wife of Bruno B. Glodny. Eileen leaves behind her favorite sister, Sheila Fitzsimmons (Peter) Phelps of Griffin, Ga. Eileen was the cherished aunt of Frank (Sara) Waterson of Decatur, Ga., Kelly Phillips of Glenmont, N.Y., Daniel (Alison) Waterson of Atlanta, Ga., Tracy (Jason) Albritton of Alexandria, Va.; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Harper, Frank, Aidan, Liam, Kellen, JD, Liv, Ann, Samuel, and Andrew.
Eileen received her undergraduate degree from Skidmore College and her graduate degrees from the University at Albany. She was a professor at the Sage Colleges for 37 years, having retired as the department chair for Humanities and Literature. She was a writer, researcher, and author. For a number of years, she had a consulting practice where she trained business and government professionals.
She was a constant source of love, laughter, and wisdom to her family and friends. Her passions included losing herself in books, arranging breathtaking bouquets of flowers, and restoring furniture to its former glory. A true historian at heart, she delighted in researching family history and preserving heirlooms, keeping cherished stories alive for generations. She spoiled her nieces and nephews with unique and thoughtful gifts for every occasion, each one as special as her love for them. No visit was complete without Eileen insisting on a photo, ensuring every memory was beautifully preserved.
Cape Cod held a special place in her heart. She and her devoted husband, Bruno, created countless memories together at their summer home. Whether biking along scenic trails, boating on the tranquil waters, or antiquing in charming seaside towns, their days were filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Cape Cod was a place of joy and serenity for Eileen, a reflection of the life she shared with Bruno. Her warmth, creativity, and love will forever be remembered.
Eileen was especially grateful for Kelly, Aidan, Liam, and Kellen who stood by her side offering endless love, laughter, and support to her and Bruno.

Bruno, I am saddened to hear of Eileen's passing. Though I did not know Eileen well, I do know that you were very devoted to each other. Let me know if I can be of any help. May she now rest in peace.
