Elaine Moore Obituary

CHARLTON Elaine Moore, 75, of Charlton, retired from her life among us peacefully at home and went to her new home in Heaven on July 16, 2004 after a 16-month battle with cancer. Born in Westminster, Vt. on January 3, 1929, Elaine has lived in Charlton since 1956 as a mother, grandmother and homemaker. She is survived by Ernest Moore, her loving husband of 53 years; and two sons, David and his wife Cynthia (Farr) and Paul and his wife Lori (Sholtes), all of Charlton; as well as eight granddaughters, Alicia, Heidi, Heather, Chelsea, Hannah, Lydia, Natalie and Chloe Moore. Survivors also include siblings, Clara Watkins, Ethel Strange, Ruth Martin, Richard Morse and Ralph Morse, as well as many nieces and nephews, all living out of state. Elaine was predeceased by her parents, James and Mary Morse; brothers, Stewart, Arthur and Payson Morse; and sisters, Olive Morse and Elizabeth Poneck. Elaine, together with her husband Ernie, was a founding member of what is now Greater Grace Community Church. In its early stages, the church met in the Moore family home and, for the last several years, Elaine has co-hosted the women's prayer meetings. Elaine's genuine love deeply blessed her family and friends and her quick wit kept us all laughing, even through her battle with cancer and on to her deathbed. We believe she is entertaining those in her company in Heaven with her humor even today. A memorial celebration of Elaine's life will be held Tuesday, July 20 at 10 a.m. at Greater Grace Community Church, 43 Round Lake Road, Malta, N.Y., co-officiated by her son, the Rev. David Moore. Relatives and friends may call on Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, East Glenville. Interment, Sweetman Cemetery, Charlton, N.Y. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., 12308 or to Greater Grace Community Church in Elaine's name.
