Elaine Sergeant Obituary
NEW PALTZ - Elaine Margaret (Lacy) Sergeant, 94, passed away on January 28, 2025.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry (Hank); daughter, Claire; granddaughter, Tirzah Morin; and son-in-law, Bob Feld. Survived by daughters, Anne, (Wayne), Nancy, and Kathleen Feld; grandchildren, Emily (Jer), Ariel, Asher (Heather); and great-grandson, Finn. Also survived by additional family and many dear friends.
She began her career in teaching at St. Joseph's Parochial School in New Paltz. When that school closed, she began teaching in the New Paltz Central School District and was an educator for 23 years. During retirement, she enjoyed volunteering for Benedictine Hospital for over 20 years.
Calling hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Copeland-Hammerl Funeral Home, located at 162 S. Putt Corners Rd., in New Paltz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Church, located 34 S. Chestnut St., New Paltz, the following day Monday, February 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
