Ethel Luce Obituary

COHOES Ethel M. Luce, 87, formerly of Central Avenue, died Thursday, January 2, 2003 at VanRensselaer Manor. Born and educated in Troy, she was daughter of the late James and Louisa Simonds Quackenbush. Ethel was employed for 25 years at the Cluett & Peabody Co. in Troy, retiring in 1980. She was a communicant of St. Bernards Church in Cohoes, a volunteer at the former Cohoes Hospital and a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Troy Lodge of Elks. She was widow of the late Francis J. Luce who died in 2000. She is the beloved mother of Marjorieann Stewart of Clifton Park, Barbara Wagner of Huntsville, Ala., Sheila Thibodeau of Clifton Park, Ethel Lefebvre of Waterford, Charron VanDuren of Cohoes and the late Shirme LaChapelle; sister of Edna Bartolucci of Schaghticoke, Joan Pooler of Mechanicville and the late Wretha Hunt and Ada Quackenbush; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad Street (Rt. 32), Waterford and 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernards Church, Cohoes. Interment will be in St. Marys Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Disease Association in care of the funeral home office.
