Eugene Vermilyea Obituary

Vermilyea, Eugene "Gene" IV
MECHANICVILLE - Eugene "Gene" Vermilyea IV, 89, of N. Third Ave., passed away unexpectedly on October 15, 2025. Born in Troy on July 1, 1936, he was the son of the late Eugene Vermilyea III and Elizabeth Hansen Vermilyea, and a graduate of Troy High School.
Shortly after high school, Gene joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country, until his honorable discharge in 1954. He later continued his education and graduated from The College of Saint Rose.
Gene worked for the New York State Office of General Services for more than 25 years.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 67 years, Nancy (Shaughnessy) Vermilyea, whom he married on November 8, 1958; sons, John and Paul Vermilyea; grandchildren, Ashley, Paul, Nicholas, and Stephen Vermilyea; and great-grandchildren, Caden and Antigone. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Janet Platt and Carol and Alan Vermilyea.
Private Services were held for his family with military honors and burial at the Saratoga National Cemetery.

My condolences and prayers to Gene's family. I had the privilege of knowing Gene from attending TPS -18. He was a fine person and fun to be around. May he RIP in the love of Our LORD. Respectfully, Jerry Brown
