Frank J. Bogarski Sr.

Bogarski, Frank J. Sr. KINDERHOOK Frank J. Bogarski Sr., 91 of County Route 25 in Kinderhook, died Monday, September 5, 2011 at his home. Born in Stockport, N.Y., January 16, 1920, he was the son of the late Frank J. and Regina (Przyby-lski) Bogarski Sr. Mr Bogarski was a graduate of Martin VanBuren High School in Kinderhook and a World War II veteran with the U.S. Army in the European Theater with the 5th Army, 85th Custard Division Recon Troop. He was decorated with two Bronze Stars for bravery and a Combat Infantryman's Badge. He attained the rank of staff sergeant. He was retired from the state Office of General Services and was a member and past chief of the Stuyvesant Falls Fire Co., a founding member of the Glencadia Rod and Gun Club, a life member of Stuyvesant Falls VFW Post 9593 and a communicant of the Church of St. Joseph, formerly St. Mary's Church in Stuyvesant Falls. A former scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America, he was also involved with the Girl Scouts here in Kinderhook and was an avid outdoorsman and gardener. He also held a private pilots license. He is survived by five children, Karen Bogarski of Delmar, Regina Blair (David) of Nassau, Christine Schermerhorn (Dale) of Philmont, Frank Bogarski Jr. (Aldea) of Ghent, and Susan Kmiotek (Paul) of Beacon; a sister, Mary V. Bogarski of Valatie; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Kathryn (Lee) Bogarski and a brother, William Bogarski. Funeral services will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Joseph, Stuyvesant Falls with Rev. Joseph Falletta officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Stuyvesant Falls. Relatives and friends may call Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home Inc., Route 9, Valatie.
