Frank J. Hooley

Hooley, Frank J. TROY Frank J. Hooley, 74, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late D. George Hooley and Marjorie Clifford Hooley. Frank was survived by his son, Sean J. Hooley and wife, Anne M. Connick; his sister-in-law, Constance Hooley, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, D. George Hooley. Frank was the former owner of Hooley Market in Downtown Troy, started by his grandfather in 1924. Frank enjoyed a long career in the retail car business, starting at Cooley Volkswagen, Hickey Ford, and finally general manager of Rensselaer Honda, Troy, N.Y. Frank was an avid car collector all his life. After retiring, Frank spent his time restoring and showing old cars and motorcycles with his son, Sean. He bought and sold hundreds of antique cars, including many Packards. Frank also owned a '37 Chevy that raced at Lebanon Valley, Pine Bowl Speedway in Poestenskill, and the Menands Speedway in Menands. Funeral from Doran Funeral Home, 9 South Lake Avenue, Troy, Saturday, September 17, at 10 a.m., with interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. on Friday, September 16. Frank's family would like to thank the staff at St. Peter's Hospital for the excellent care he received during his long illness. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the American Cancer Society.
