Vander Bogart, Fred H. STEPHENTOWN Fred H. Vander Bogart, 91, of South Road, Averill Park died on Sunday, August 5, 2018, at Albany Medical Center Hospital. A lifelong resident of Stephentown, Fred was the son of the late Dece and Plina Lane Vander Bogart Sr. and the beloved and devoted husband of Alice Engwer Vander Bogart. His birthday was August 1, 1927. Fred retired in 1987 from General Electric in Pittsfield. Fred had worked there for 38 years and had worked in different transportation positions. At the time of his retirement, he had been a corporate chauffer. Fred had been involved in area Baptist Churches including his childhood church the West Stephentown Baptist, where he had been a trustee and deacon, the Stephentown Center Free Will Baptist Church and the Alps Baptist Church where he had been a deacon and the Grafton Baptist from 1993-2015 and most recently the Sand Lake Baptist Church. Fred was a longtime member of the Stephentown Seniors and served as their chaplain. Fred enjoyed farming, traveling and hunting and fishing in his younger years. Fred was the brother of the late Elmer, Dece Jr., Howard and Angie Vander Bogart and Emma Stevens. Survivors in addition to his wife of 71 years include his children, Robert (Linda) Vander Bogart of Heartville, Mo., Cheryl (David) Walther of Stephentown, Paul (Regina) Vander Bogart of Mansfield, Mo. and Dale (Lisa) Vander Bogart of Poestenkill, 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and five great- great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday August 8, at the West Stephentown Baptist Church 1672 NY 43, West Stephentown. Funeral service 10 a.m. Thursday, August 9, at the West Stephentown Baptist Church followed by burial in the Hillside Cemetery West Stephentown.
