Ormsby, Frederick A. CLIFTON PARK Frederick A. Ormsby, 85, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2018 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born on November 19, 1932 in Glenville, N.Y., Fred was the son of the late Herman and Lela (Miller) Ormsby. Fred was a graduate of Scotia High School in 1952. A farmer early on, Fred worked for both Amsterdam Dairy and Bellevue Dairy. He worked for 13 years for General Electric and then for almost 20 years for the Guilderland School District, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed camping in Lake Luzerne and was an avid fan of the New York Giants and Yankees. Fred was a devoted father and adored his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him. Fred is survived by his children, Frederick "Rick" Ormsby, Michael (Jovan) Ormsby and Kathleen Towne; his beloved grandchildren, John Towne, Jr., Kara Towne, Lela and Mikayla Ormsby and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his siblings, Ernest Ormsby, Effie "Betty" Haley, and Mildred Hoffman. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.
