Gary Richard Beck

Beck, Gary Richard CATSKILL Gary Richard Beck passed away on March 1, 2020, at the age of 73, from complications arising from a decades-long fight against Multiple Sclerosis. He is remembered by family and friends as a kind-hearted, generous individual who loved travel, music, and food. When his mobility allowed, he traveled from New Zealand to Europe and points across the U.S. He enjoyed frequent trips to favorite destinations like the Maine coast and Adirondack woods. He found solace in the simple pleasures of life - like a fresh cup of coffee in the morning sun. He was an avid chef who made the best chicken soup and loved replicating a delicious meal from a restaurant. Beck graduated from Bethlehem High School, served in the United States Air Force, and spent his career working for General Electric. He was also an ordained deacon in the Catholic Church. Through his life's work, he served his country and his community, finding connections in shared experiences. He had a way of putting people at ease and an unwavering belief that the universe would provide a solution to any given circumstance. He was predeceased by his father Richard; his mother Ruth; his brother T. Michael Beck; and his sister Barbara McCumber. He is survived by his son Matthew; his daughter-in-law Meredith; his grandsons, Charlie and Hudson; and his former spouse Martha, whose friendship, love, and support endured well past the legal bounds of their marriage. The family would also like to thank Leo Guelpa for his dedicated friendship and help through the years. The family recently held a private funeral service in the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
