Bennett, George R. ALBANY G. Richard "Dick" Bennett, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2021. Dick was the son of the late James and Mary Bennett. He was the devoted husband of over 53 years to Karla J. Bennett. Dick proudly served with the United States Marine Corps. He was an Albany fireman for over 28 years; and a member of the Shaker Ridge Country Club, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He was predeceased by his siblings, Betty, Joan, Joe and Butchie. Dick is survived by his wife, Karla; and his sons, Greg (Jacquelyn) Bennett and Dean (Michelle Lobo) Bennett. He was the proud grandfather of Brandon, Riley, Kyle and Reese. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Maryann, Connie, Barbara, Jimmy, Frankie, Bobby and Jackie and many nieces, nephews and close family and friends. The family would like thank the Buckingham Unit at Shaker Place for all of their care and compassion given to Dick and his family. Private memorial calling hours and services will be held for the family at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie on Thursday, March 25, starting at 10 a.m. Burial will be private. Gathering size within our chapels will be based on the most current N.Y.S. occupancy requirements. Masks are required, and social distancing is to be observed inside and outside of our chapels.
