ALBANY - Gerald Louis Dickson, 88, transitioned into heaven, peacefully, on Monday, October 28, 2024. He was born to the late Arthur and Dorothy Dickson on July 26, 1936, in Coxsackie, N.Y.
Gerald, the father of four sons, Reggie, Guy, Jeff, and Jason, was known to family and friends as "Joe." As a young man, Joe enjoyed playing the drums, playing cards, listening to music, fishing, boating, and playing softball. He was a very avid reader and enjoyed books about religion, self-help, and philosophy. Joe's professional and entrepreneurial endeavors were wide and varied, to include selling land investments in Des Moines, Iowa, to selling advertisements in the yellow pages, to owning a women's hosiery business and a flower shop. Joe also spent many years as a professional limousine driver. He most enjoyed his time as a driver because it gave him a captive audience with whom he would share his deep philosophical thoughts and beliefs about the power of positive thinking and speaking.
Joe was one-of-a-kind and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by four sons; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-great children; four siblings; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held November 8, 2024, at W.C. Brady Sons Funeral Home in Coxsackie, N.Y. The viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m.
