Geraldine DeBonis

DeBonis, Geraldine TROY Geraldine DeBonis Bennett, 64, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2018. She was the loving daughter of the late James and Louise (Sorrento) DeBonis; and the wife of the late Lead Bennett. Geraldine was employed by Rensselaer county's VanRensselaer Manor for 39 years starting part-time in 1970 in housekeeping. Upon graduation from Troy High School, she became secretary to the Manor's Activity Director. In 1976 she received her CDL license and then became the Activity Department's transportation driver which she enjoyed so much transporting the patients to all their outdoor excursions. In 1998, she became supervisor for the Foster Care's Transportation Unit where she retired from. Geraldine enjoyed her time with her family, especially at the pool, and with her many dear friends and cousins. Geraldine is survived by her loving son, who was her world, Marcus John Bennett. She is also survived by her three sisters and her brother: Jeannette DeBonis, Louise Dianne DeBonis, James DeBonis Jr. (Jennifer McLaughlin) all of Troy and Dolores Canseco (Javier) of California. In addition, she is survived by her nephew Vincent Salinas and his son Tristan; her niece Rachael DeBonis (Josh) and their children, Aria and Mason Gill. She is also survived by her aunt, Yolanda Sorrento Caola (Ransen) of Brunswick; and her brothers-in-law, Terry and Edward Bennett, and sister-in-law, Delinore Bennett. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, November 2, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 8-109th St., Troy, with a service immediately following at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
