I had the priviledge of playing in the backcourt with Glenn at Niskayuna High School back in the day. He was a smart, determined and clutch player. Probably the highlight of our careers was beating his old team Linton in the sectional tournament in 1972. God bless him and his family.

My apologies for the timing of this message, but my deepest condolences and sympathies to Stopera family. Mr. Stopera was a beloved father and coach, and his revered by all who knew him. We met through basketball, and I was lucky enough to coach his son in college (one of the toughest players I've ever had the privilege to coach). Mr. Stopera had a tremendous basketball mind, and his influence and insight was always valued. All our love and prayers to his family.

Amazing to watch a 5´5 guard dominate (all) in basketball games at Central Park in Schenectady for years in the early to mid 70´s. Glen had an intense desire to succeed and powerful will to win. He wouldn´t back down from anyone. A fierce competitor and good friend. My condolences to all of the Stopera´s - a GREAT FAMILY

Kathy and family, We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Glen. We got to know Glen when he was coaching our son Jason in Tartan Youth Basketball 23 years ago. The drive and compassion he had in teaching those kids the sport was unbelievable to us. Many youths in the Scotia area are better from the lessons taught to them by Glen. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family . Joe and Holly DeBiase

My son Matthew played travel basketball with Mike, that Glenn coached. Glenn was a gifted teacher and coach. He taught players to work hard and respect one another. I will remember Glenn as a gentleman and one who always took the time to ask how you were doing and how are the boys.

Condolences and prayers to Kathy and the family. It has been a privilege to know Glenn. He was a great basketball coach; and had a great basketball mind. He treated my children, and all players with respect, kindness, and toughness to make them winners. I enjoyed conversations and laughs with him. My children have fond memories of Glenn; and enjoyed playing for him since the third grade. He played a major role in developing SG high school boys to win two NYS Boys Basketball titles. Glenn was a nice person and great guy.

My deepest condolences to the entire Stopera family. It will be very strange and sad not to see Glenn coming up the 9th fairway at Muni every morning. I played many rounds with Glenn and always enjoyed his company. I will light a candle at mass this Sunday. Peace

To the Stopera´s, I´m Terribly sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed playing with and against Glenn on the golf course when we had the opportunity. He was a fierce competitor and he always brought out the best in my game because I knew he wasn´t going to to make many mistakes. He would always go out of his way to come say hi to me when he saw me and ask not just about golf but how life in general was going. He hit one of the greatest shots I ever saw on number 3 in Amsterdam in the club championship back in the day, a story I still tell frequently. He was beyond a class act and will be missed by many. RIP Glenn.

My condolences to Glenn's family on his recent passing. I played basketball against Glenn way back in the 70's when he was at Linton and I played at Gibbons. Great rivalry back then between the two schools. I hosted Glenn on his recruiting visit to Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa. where I went on to play. I think he ended up going to Plattsburgh. I would see him on occasion at Amsterdam Muny when I golfed there with my son Josh. I go all the way back to CYO days when he played at St. John the Evangelist and I at St.Clares. Even back then we heard the stories about what a great ballhandler he was. Rest in Peace, Glenn
