Gordon Emerick Obituary

Emerick, Gordon C. HALFMOON Gordon C. Emerick, 76, of Clifton Park, died suddenly at his home, Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Born in Cohoes, he was son of the late Arthur and Hazel Sleight Emerick. Survi ved by his wife of 53 years, Beverly Jeane Chase Emerick, his brother, E. Paul (Marilyn) Emerick of Easton, several nieces and nephews and his Godchild, Joy DeVoe Mein of Halfmoon. He attended Albany Academy and graduated from Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse. In 1960, he and his wife built and founded the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home and operated it until his retirement in 1993. Gordon was a talented builder and together he and Beverly built several buildings including the current home that they reside in. Gordon loved all animals, especially his Mainecoon cats, Thor and Samson. He was a member of Shenendehowa United Methodist Church and was a former member of Shenendehowa Rotary Club. He was involved in several community activities, and supportive of many organizations. He gave generously to causes that he believed in. Funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 RT-9, Clifton Park, NY 12065 where Rev. John Tallman, Chaplain, St. Peter's Hospital in Albany will officiate. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. Interment will be held in Memory's Garden, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Hospital Foundation, Suite 114, 319 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208, in memory of Gordon C. Emerick.

I was so saddened to hear of Gordon's passing. I'll always remember you and Gordon being my Grandma & Grandpa's nextdoor neighbors when I was a young child. Just remember Gordon is at peace now. Gordon it was a pleasure to have adopted you and beverly as so called mom and DAD loved doing paving work for you and mom and leaving duck ponds in it loved you alot and i know you new it wil miss you DON your adopted son.
