H. Orlyk Obituary

Orlyk, H. Vincent TROY H. Vincent Orlyk, 91, of Winter Street Extension, Troy, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Hoosick Falls Health Center, Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Vince was born and educated in Troy, a graduate of Sacred Heart Grammar School and Troy High School. He was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Szlachtycz Orlyk. He worked at the Watervliet Arsenal during World War II and later at New York State, retiring from office of general services in 1983. He enjoyed spending winters in Fla. and playing golf with family members and old friends. Vince loved his Roman Catholic faith and remained a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church his entire life. He enjoyed interacting with his great-grandchildren and one of their memories will be of him dancing with them at holiday parties. He is survived by his son, Harry Orlyk (Donna); his daughter, Carolyn Withcuskey (Tom); his daughter-in-law, Carol Orlyk; his cherished friend, Patricia Hannon; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. His brother, Alex Orlyk, died on August 8, 2010. Vince's brothers were Stephen Orlyk (Sheila), Louis Orlyk (Kay), Joseph Orlyk (Mary) and Alex Orlyk (Helen). His son, John J. Orlyk Sr. and his grandson, John J. Orlyk Jr. predeceased him. Funeral Friday, 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Pawling Avenue, Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends may call at the Dufrense Funeral Home, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions may be made in Vince's memory to Sacred Heart School, Pawling Avenue, Troy, N.Y.
