Kuentzel, Helen F. WATERVLIET Helen F. (Carroll) Kuentzel entered into eternal life on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020, at the age of 75. Helen was born in Troy on August 14, 1945, and was the daughter of the late John Carroll Sr. and Mary (Cronin) Carroll. Helen was raised in Watervliet where she attended Sacred Heart of Mary Grammar School and Watervliet High School. She was proud to say that she resided within the boundaries of the same Watervliet city block for her entire life. Helen was married to Carl J. Kuentzel Sr. on October 17, 1964, in Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Watervliet. The two enjoyed 32 years of marriage before his passing on May 10, 1997. Early in her life, Helen was employed by the Watervliet Pharmacy and the former Childs Hospital in Albany. She was also dedicated to raising her three children and tending to her home. Helen, for many years, was the banquet coordinator, specializing in weddings and other events, at the Watervliet Council of the Knights of Columbus. Following the death of her husband, she took employment with the Watervliet City School District as a teacher's assistant and simultaneously worked for Marshall's in Latham. As her grandchildren came along, Helen enjoyed babysitting and assisting with their care while also providing childcare to other local children. Throughout her life Helen enjoyed travelling and visited places such as the Grand Canyon, Bahamas, Branson, Missouri and Walt Disney World. She once travelled across the country with her sisters. Helen also enjoyed playing Bingo weekly with her group of family and close friends and playing cards. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Watervliet. Helen was the loving mother of Lisa (Michael) Dennis, Carleen (John Sr.) Legault and Carl (Diana) Kuentzel Jr.; proud grandmother of John (Molly) Legault Jr., Jessica Dennis, Justin Legault, Cody (Hailey) Dennis, Brandon (Erica) Legault, Alexis (fiance James Brown) Kuentzel, Scott Dennis, Dominique Kuentzel and Carl J. Kuentzel III; cherished great-grandmother of Jack Legault, Lucy Legault and twins, Nash and Noah Dennis; and dear sister of Ann (late Michael) Kerin, Brian (Nadina Comolli) Carroll, Jeanne Proctor, Michael (Kathy) Carroll, Maryjo Carroll and the late Arthur (late Beverly) Carroll, Rosemary (late James) Perkins, John (Julie) Carroll, Thomas (Diane) Carroll, Patricia (late George) Sibinich, Denise (late Henry) Lindheimer and Judith Carroll. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Helen's funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Donald Rutherford, pastor, on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Church, 25th Street and 7th Avenue, Watervliet. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet. Friends are invited and may also visit with Helen's family on Monday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Parker Bros. Memorial in Watervliet. Please note that the number of people in the facility will be limited at any given time, facial masks must be worn and social distancing will be required.
