WEST SAND LAKE - Iteke Prins, 87, of West Sand Lake, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025, at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by family. Iteke was born in The Netherlands, the daughter of the late John and Ina (Roostee) Ingwersen.
Her interests included composing music, choir and playing musical instruments, organs, cruising, painting, knitting, gardening and cooking, especially Indonesian food.
She was a third generation nurse for 66 years, church organist and choir director at Blooming Grove Church for 35 years. In retirement, she played for several churches in the area as a sub and was the organist and choir director at The First Church in Albany when she passed.
Survivors include her children, Rene (Ronald) Pesnichak, Arden (Robert) Maiorisi, Nicholas (Lori) Prins, Denise (Michael) Glasser, Thomas H.(Shay) Prins, and Nadine (Ronald) Terpstra; 28 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents; she was predeceased by her loving husband, Harvey R. Prins; and son-in-law, Robert Maiorisi.
Friends and family are invited to call 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., on Friday, October 3, in the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer. Family will also hold a Visitation from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., in the sanctuary before a service that will be held in her memory on Saturday, October 4, at 10:00 a.m., at The First Church in Albany, 110 N. Pearl St., Albany. The service will also be streamed on the church's website. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in West Sand Lake, N.Y.
