Cavanaugh, James M.
STILLWATER - James M. Cavanaugh, 91, of Hudson Avenue, died peacefully at Saratoga Hospital, on February 1, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in Ashley, Pa., on November 25, 1933, son of the late Michael and Mary Moyles Cavanaugh, he grew up and was educated in Sugar-Notch, Pa.
Jim proudly joined the U.S. Army in 1954, earning his honorable discharge in 1956, after fulfilling his obligation. He spent his 36-year career at GE Silicone Products Division, Waterford, working as a Control Operator before retiring in 1993.
Jim loved to hunt and fish and was proud of his Irish heritage and the sarcasm that came with it. He was a faithful member of All Saints on the Hudson Parish (St. Peter's Church).
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Grace Lewis Cavanaugh, whom he married on May 9, 1959; children, Mariann Cavanaugh (Ron Pickett), Doreen (William) McGreevy, and Michael (Jane) Cavanaugh; grandchildren, John (Patti) Hoogeveen, Peter Hoogeveen, Maggie (Evan) Fort, Megan McGreevy, Michael Cavanaugh, Nicole McGreevy, and Matt Cavanaugh; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Cora, Teddy, Henry and Jack; and his sister, Jane Skiscim; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Louise Batchelor, Clare Conaboy, and Florence Crouse-VanDetta.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 5, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St., Mechanicville, N.Y. 12118. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Thursday, at 11 a.m., followed by Military Honors and burial at the Saratoga National Cemetery.

Grace,Michael & family,
I always had a special bond with Jim because of our mutual love of family.
We spent many hours together at work and any conversation we ever had most of it was about his family.
He was loved and respected by so many.
Remember all the wonderful memories and know that he is now with his Savior.
