James Fitzpatrick Obituary

Fitzpatrick, James
ULSTER PARK - James T. Fitzpatrick, 89, passed into eternal light on June 7, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He was born December 21, 1935, in the Bronx, a son of the late Thomas J. and Catherine (Ayers) Fitzpatrick. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1954-1958 and was honorably discharged. He worked serving the public as a New York State Trooper for over 20+ years. In his retirement, he worked briefly in real estate before working for Gtech. Jim cherished summers at his campsite in East Durham and looked forward to vacationing in Atlantic City. He had a lifelong passion for collecting model trains and a deep appreciation for classic cars- especially his Cadillacs. Jim also had a soft spot for animals, with a special affection for his cats, who brought him constant companionship and joy.
He is survived by his four children, Thomas Fitzpatrick of Hudson Falls, Elizabeth O'Connor and her husband, Donald Jr. of Kingston (Lomontville), James Fitzpatrick of Kingston and Heather Buff and her husband, Stephen of Latham; grandchildren, Cassidy and Braydon O'Connor, Madelyn and Allyson Buff; one brother, Dr. John Fitzpatrick; as well as several nieces and nephews and the many friends Jim met along life's way. He was predeceased by his sisters, Catherine Cahir and Margaret Dempsey. The family wants to express thanks to Northern Dutchess Hospital and Ten Broeck Center staff for their care and compassion he received.

To the Fitzpatrick Family: We were so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He and our son worked together at Gtech and our son loved Jim dearly. Jim would share many tales with him and they had a special bond. May he rest in peace and let you know that he was a fine man. We hope that knowing that others loved him too will make your grief less painful. Sincerely, Elaine & Dennis Ferraro
