James Kennedy Obituary

Kennedy, James Rogers M.D. NISKAYUNA James Rogers Kennedy, M.D., 82, of Niskayuna, passed away Sunday evening, December 2, 2012 at Ellis Hospital with family by his side. He was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy Kennedy of Lancaster, Pa. and Mary Jane Kennedy Richardson of California. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Fisk Kennedy, M.D.; his son, Stephen M. Kennedy, and his wife, Ruby, of Bedford, Mass.; his son, Paul Rogers Kennedy, and his wife, Francesca, of Delray Beach, Fla.; his daughter, Elizabeth E. Kennedy of Niskayuna: and five grandchildren. Born January 3, 1930 in Cincinnati to Harry Kennedy and Dorothy Rogers Kennedy, he grew up in Hinsdale, Ill. James was a graduate of Wesleyan University, the University of Illinois, and received his medical degree from Albany Medical College in 1957. He did his pediatric residency at Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and served his country in the Army Medical Corps at Fort Knox, Ky. James and Carolyn moved to Schenectady in 1962, where he joined Clifford and Jason Tepper in the pediatric practice known as Tepper, Tepper and Kennedy on Union Street in Schenectady. His 40-plus years of practice as a physician included pediatrics, allergy and later gained recognition in the community as a leading medical expert on learning disabilities. Throughout his entire career, he was well respected in the community and beloved by his patients and their parents. He officially retired from practicing in 2006. He was a member of the American Medical Association, a Fellow of American Academy of Pediatrics and the Schenectady County Medical Society. The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and support staff at Ellis Hospital ICU for their compassion, care and thoughtfulness bestowed on James during his stay there. Calling hours will be held at Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady, on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. See dalyfuneralhome.com for directions. Kennedy in a special way, the family requests that donations to the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center, in the name of James R. Kennedy, M.D., be considered.
