Jane Foster Obituary

Foster, Jane
TROY - Jane A. Foster, 87, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Samaritan Hospital.
Born in Chestertown, on September 26, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Frank O'Connor and Mary Moore O'Connor; and the loving wife to the late Arthur Foster, he died in 2005.
Jane graduated from Chestertown High School, class of 1955 and St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1958.
While in Albany, she met her one and only, Art. They courted and were married the following year in 1960. Shortly after, they moved to Auburn, N.Y., where they welcomed their four children into the world. In 1965, the family moved to Saratoga Springs, where Jane devoted her time to being a full-time mom.
Jane and her family eventually settled in Troy, N.Y., in 1971, where she spent the remainder of her life. During this time, she continued her nursing career in various settings in addition to pursuing her hobbies which included writing, cooking (PBJ sandwiches excluded), genealogy, knitting, crocheting and reading; but always a mom and wife above all. She also volunteered at her children's school, and was always present for their activities.
Mom was always best in times of crisis. Her nursing training and big heart shone brightest when others were in need. Homecooked meals, notes of comfort, knitted blankets, hats, gloves and scarves, always made their way to those who were less fortunate.
Her children never wanted for lack of activities as her creative personality always provided ample amounts of entertainment. Trips to Brant Lake, Chestertown, and state parks, were staples of her family's life.
Mom was an avid researcher of her family's genealogy and she and Dad spent countless hours and travel, visiting recently discovered relatives and sites where distant family members resided. During this time, she authored a history of her hometown of Chestertown, N.Y., which was displayed in the local museum.
Jane is survived her adoring children, Elizabeth (James) Large of Nevada, Anthony (Denise) Foster of Saratoga Springs, Jeanne (Robert) Zukowski of Tennessee, and Dianne (Michael) Fagan of Niskayuna; her cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Kelsey, Sam, Katie, Max, Nate, Kim and Anna; her 11 great-grandchildren; her brother, Nicholas O'Connor; and her sister, Judy Moroz.
In addition to her mother, father, and husband, Art; she was predeceased by her brother, Richard O'Connor.
Family and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to noon, with funeral Mass, at 12:15 p.m., all at Our lady of Victory Church, 55 N. Lake Ave., Troy. Burial will be private at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in memory of Jane A. Foster to the St. Peter's ALS Regional Center, www.givetostpeters.org. Please visit www.mcloughlinmason.com

Earlier today

So sad to see your mother passed. Enjoyed seeing her most days at the Eddy. She was a reminder of those crazy but fun teaching years. Your Dad was truly a gifted teacher and loved your mother so much. We could all tell by how he talked about her.they were a wonderful couple.
