Janet Girvin Obituary

Girvin, Janet Scott LOUDONVILLE Janet Scott Girvin, 91 of Loudonville, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 8, 2022, with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late William Henry Girvin Jr. The daughter of the late Severin Francis Scott and Mary McCarthy Scott, she was born in New York City on August 28, 1930. She was predeceased by her sisters, Muriel Scott of the Bronx and Eileen Scott Schneider of Loudonville; and her beloved cousin, Patricia Crinigan (the late Richard) of Watervliet. She is survived by her brother-in-law, James (Joan) Girvin. She wa the loving mother of William (Donna Ginter), Joanne Girvin (Kevin O'Boyle), Christine (Alan) Isherwood, Carol (Robert) Lynch, Steven Girvin, and Patricia (Michael) Johnson. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Robert (Kelsey) Lynch, Edward Lynch, Brittany (Brian) Schwartz, Zebediah Girvin, Zachary Girvin, Michael Johnson, and Severin Johnson; and her three great-granddaughters, Margaret and Evelyn Lynch and Julia Schwartz. Janet graduated from Villa Maria Academy and The College of New Rochelle. On June 21, 1952, she married the love of her life, William Henry Girvin Jr. and they began to raise a family in Loudonville. Prior to starting a family, Janet was a kindergarten teacher at Southgate Elementary for several years. Jan and Bill were members of Schuyler Meadows Club for over 50 years. They met some of their closest and dearest friends at the club. Jan was always organizing and participating in some of the greatest events. She loved her pool, tennis, paddle tennis, golf and bridge groups. She created her own rule book which made the competition or match more enjoyable and fun. She also enjoyed ice-skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking and just being outside. She loved family vacations to the New Jersey shore and cherished the times up north in the Adirondacks. She was a friend to all. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville on Friday, August 12 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
