CLIFTON PARK - Jeanne (Riley) Keis passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at her home. Jeanne was born on February 19, 1927, at home, in Watervliet, and was the youngest of eight children of John and Elizabeth (Stanford) Riley. She received her early education at St. Patrick's School in Watervliet and later graduated from Watervliet High School with the Class of 1945. Jeanne married Edward F. Keis in 1949 at St. Patrick's Church in Watervliet and together, they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage, before his passing on June 25, 2009. Jeanne and Ed raised their family in Watervliet and in 1977 relocated to Clifton Park. Jeanne will be remembered for her independent spirit, her fondness for dogs and her love of reading. She always enjoyed a visit to Barnes and Noble Booksellers. She was devout in her Catholic faith and enjoyed her membership in the Altar-Rosary Society at St. Brigid's Church in Watervliet, where she ironed altar linens and vestments and made communion hosts. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren provided Jeanne with a great source of pride and they could always count on her for her support and encouragement at their activities, including sporting events even if it meant some bumpy wheelchair rides. Her early involvement with the Camp Fire Girls and serving as a chaperone for the Catholic High Ski Club were examples of her involvement in her children's lives. As a loving wife, Jeanne supported her husband in the family business, Keis Distributors in Watervliet and, in his final years, served as his caregiver. She leaves a legacy of love and a family who is grateful for her long and inspirational life and sharp sense of humor. The Keis family extends their heartfelt thanks to those who helped to provide Jeanne with care and companionship in her recent years, especially Lynne Hallenbeck, and her team, and Robert and Susan Eckert. Jeanne was the loving mother of Edward R. Keis and his wife, Mary Anne Keis, Candice Keis and her husband, Peter Gallagher and Karen Keis; cherished grandmother of Matthew Keis and his wife, Rachel Mott Keis, David Keis and his wife, Christine Keis, Riley Gallagher and her husband, Matthew Koed, Connor Gallagher and his partner, Brian Seaman, Keesha Baybak and her husband, Nick Baybak, Gabriel Krebsbach and Stacey Karpen; proud great-grandmother of Liam, McKenzie, Colton and Emmett Keis, Molly and Graham Koed. Jeanne was a loving aunt to numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Friends are invited to visit with Jeanne's family at the Parker Bros. Memorial in Watervliet on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Thomas Hayes on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., in St. Mary's Church, Crescent, 86 Church Hill Rd. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
