Jeffrey E. "Jeff" Iwan Sr.

Iwan, Jeffrey "Jeff" E. Sr. SCHENECTADY Jeffrey "Jeff" E. Iwan Sr., 72, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2022. Growing up in Schenectady, Jeff graduated from Bishop Gibbons in 1967. After high school, Jeff enlisted into the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After proudly serving his country, Jeff began his 30-year career with General Electric as a machinist. In 1971, he married Barb Andrews. Together they raised their family in Ballston Lake, where they lived on the lake and enjoyed many days fishing and swimming. He was a proud father and grandfather, putting family first and instilling generosity and humor in his family. Jeff was an avid motorcyclist, attending many motorcycle events over the years. He enjoyed antique car shows. He had many talents and will always be remembered as a "collector" and a lover of the outdoors. He was a member of the American Legion and a generous contributor to many charities. To continue Jeff's memory are his wife of 50 years, Barb Iwan; children, Jeffrey E. (Shannon) Iwan Jr., Bonnie-Jean Iwan and Wendy Iwan; grandchildren, Christina-Marie Iwan and Evelyn Adele Iwan; siblings, Mark (Roxa) Iwan, Lynn (Bruno) Cianfarani and Kathy (Joseph) Ryan, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, on Saturday, April 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. A celebration of life service will follow at 6 p.m. Burial with military honors will be private for family.
