TROY - Jenny A Simmons, 70, of Troy, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, after a long illness. Born on April 8, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Anthony Simmons and Patricia Simmons Mitola, of Troy.
Jenny attended Troy High School, and graduated in 1973 as a member of The National Honor Society. She was employed at Albany Memorial Hospital as the assistant purchasing agent for approximately 40 years, and then at Samaritan Hospital in Troy as a scheduler in the radiology department, until her retirement in 2022. Jenny was an avid N.Y. Mets fan and also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and Foxwoods, and in previous years, trips to the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. Most of all she liked spending time with her family.
She is survived by her brothers, Steven (Cheryl) Simmons of Colonie and Peter (Betty Ann) Simmons of Schaghticoke; three nephews, Mark (Stephanie) Simmons, Eric (Justine Glynn) Simmons and Jeffrey Simmons; and several extended family members. She is also survived by her lifelong best friend, Janice LaChance Fredericks. In addition to both parents, Jenny was predeceased by her good friend, Mary Therrien, in 2008.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff in the C3 Wing at Van Rensselaer Manor for all of their compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 2 p.m., at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 8 109th Street, Troy, N.Y. 12182. Calling hours will take place prior to the services from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jenny's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
