Joan Basolt Obituary
NORTH GREENBUSH - Joan Alice Basolt, 62, a lifelong Rensselaer County resident, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, with her caregiver and sister Mary and her family by her side at the Van Rensselaer Manor, where she had resided for three years, after a brief illness.
Born in Troy, Joan was the daughter of the late John A. and Pauline E. Horton Basolt. Joan grew up at Denaults Corners in Averill Park and was a graduate of the Averill Park High School. Joan had resided in Troy for a number of years and was a longtime volunteer at the Roarke Center. She loved shopping at Truly Rhe and going on frequent shopping trips with her sister Mary to Walmart. Joan was a talented painter, enjoyed sewing, antiques and collectibles.
Joan was the sister of John W. Basolt of North Greenbush, Melody (Randy) Howarth of Nassau, Mary (Timothy) Komdat, Stephen (Kelly) Basolt and Albert Basolt all of Averill Park; birth mother of Rachael (Daniel) Marek; their daughter, Francesca of Clifton Park; aunt of Shannon (Greg) Howarth, Jenai (Frank) Southard, Joshua (Krissy) Howarth, Courtney (Jeremy) and Morgan Kanopka, Katie (AJ) Komdat, Ashley (Sean) Basolt, Jared, Jacob, and Jennifer Basolt; along with several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Joan's family wishes to thank the dedicated staff on the A2 Unit at the Van Rensselaer Manor especially Michelle B., Margaret B., Beth J., Sarah, Laurie, Kristina, Alexis, Cathy, Blhsh, Ashley and Amanda for the compassion and care given to Joan during her stay.
Joan, we will miss you and you will forever be in our hearts. Abracadabra!
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service 11 a.m. on Friday, April 26, at the Woodlawn Cemetery, 111 Burden Lake Road, East Schodack, N.Y. with Rev. Trygve Tomlinson officiating.
If desired, donations in memory of Joan Basolt to the West Stephentown Baptist Church, 1672 N.Y. 43, West Stephentown, N.Y. 12168.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Joan's family at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel in Averill Park.
