John V. Coulter

Coulter, John V. NEW CANAAN, Conn. John V. Coulter died peacefully in his sleep on January 4, 2008. A longtime resident of New Canaan, Mr. Coulter was born in Albany, N.Y. in 1926, the son of William J. and Helen Coulter. His brother, William Jr., predeceased him. Mr. Coulter served in the Navy in the Pacific in World War II. After the war, he was graduated from Siena College and Brooklyn Law School, then served as a special agent of the FBI. He was then employed by Phelps Dodge Corp., rising to the rank of vice president. Upon his retirement, he served on the New Canaan Board of Education. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nell (Martin); his children, John Jr. of New York City, James of Wilton, and Ann; and his granddaughters, Kimberly and Christina. Family received friends at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street , New Canaan, Conn. from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 6. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in New Canaan on Monday, January 7 at 1 p.m., followed by interment in the Lakeview Cemetery New Canaan, Conn.
