John McCrindle Obituary

GLENVILLE John McCrindle, 88, of Jennifer Rd., died Thursday August 12, 2004 at St. Clare's Hospital. John was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland on March 5, 1916 the son of Thomas and Annie McCrindle and moved to the United States at the age of seven. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School and later attended G.E. apprentice programs where he focused on photography as a career. John entered the Army Air Corps, stationed in England where he served as a sergeant during World War II. He played soccer as a young adult and was very good at the sport. John continued with Maqua Printing and later with General Electric's main plant as an industrial photographer for nearly 30 years until his retirement in 1977. He was married on August 23, 1941 to the former Frieda Doring. John was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Schenectady for many years. His hobbies included sailing, woodworking and astronomy. He built three sailboats which he enjoyed for many years. He was predeceased by his wife Frieda McCrindle on October 12, 1999. Survivors include his son, Douglas J. McCrindle of Charlton, N.Y.; three grandsons, Heath, Jacob and Noah McCrindle; a sister-in-law, Ella M.E. Weber of Schenectady. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 16, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville. Calling hours will be Sunday at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Burial to be in the family plot at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Albany St., Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jack's memory to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 153 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, NY 12308.
