Joseph Franzone Obituary

Franzone, Joseph F. ISELIN, N.J. Joseph "George" F. Franzone, 93 of Iselin, passed away on September 13, 2011. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., on January 19, 1918, he was the son of the late Clorinda and Onorato Franzone. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He told stories about his pet monkey that kept him company when he was stationed in the Philippines. He lived in New York City until he married Jean Ackerman in 1950 and moved to Newark, N.J. Joseph was a union electrician, member of IBEW Local 3 for over 70 years, one of the few to reach that milestone. In recent years, he enjoyed attending union reunions. He was a big Yankees fan, and also enjoyed bowling until age 80 when he began devoting all his efforts to caregiving for his beloved wife Jean. Joseph's greatest love was his family. He did all that he could for his wife, his children and his grandchildren. Joseph was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Jean Ackerman Franzone, in 2000. He is survived by his loving children, Raymond Harry Franzone of Clifton Park, N.Y., and his wife Marcie, and Cindy Lynn Ull and her husband Scott. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Leah Rose and Meryl Hannah Franzone, and Shayna Rose and Joshua Aaron Ull. Funeral services are being held at B'nai Abraham Memorial Park, Union, N.J., on Wednesday, September 14. Locally, Shiva Minyanim will take place at the home of Raymond and Marcie Franzone in Clifton Park on Saturday and Sunday, September 17 and 18, at 7:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Congregation Beth Shalom in Clifton Park.
