Joseph J. Taggart

1934 - 2020

Taggart, Joseph J. CLIFTON PARK Joseph James Taggart, 86 of Clifton Park, passed away on December 30, 2020, at Samaritan Hospital. He was born in Troy, on December 13, 1934, to the late James J. and Barbara (Cocco) Taggart. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Esther B. and Perry T. Patterson; and brother-in-law, Robert E. Patterson. He graduated Albany High School in 1953, SUNY Albany in 1959 and attended Syracuse University. He served in the U.S. Army and reserves. Joe retired from the state of New York with over 25 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Van Schaick Island Country Club, where he greatly enjoyed his beloved game of golf and time with friends. Joe loved to read, do crossword puzzles, watch sports and spend time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eleanor (Patterson); daughters, Melissa (Scott) Verhagen, Amanda (Paul) McMillan and Susan Kosinski; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Conor) Verhagen Long, Alec (Kathy) Verhagen, Alison, Emily (Matt), Max and Sam Kosinski; great-granddaughter, Althea Long; sister-in-law, Monique Patterson; and nieces, Debra and Lisa. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather "Poppy" and great-grandfather. He was loved very much and will be dearly missed. Interment services to be held in the Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date.
