Ferradino, Judith
SCHENECTADY - Judith "Judi" A. Ferradino, 80, passed away peacefully on Monday December 1, 2025, with her family by her side. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 31 years, Fred. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on August 21, 1945, Judi was the daughter of the late Frank P. and Catherine F. Murken. She and her family relocated to Rotterdam, N.Y., at the start of her high school journey, having graduated from Mohonasen High School, in 1963. After graduation, Judi began her career with N.Y.S. Social Services, spending seven years there, before finding her true professional home as an Administrative Assistant at Union College. She loved supporting the staff and chatting with students, first in the Financial Aid Office, and later in Alumni Affairs. Over her 25-year career at Union, she built deep friendships and earned tremendous respect from faculty, staff, and students alike. An active and social person, Judi volunteered in her children's schools, served as PTA president, and enjoyed weekly volleyball matches with friends. After being diagnosed with MS, she became Reiki certified and remained active through the Silver Sneakers program. Later, at the Schenectady Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, she continued her lifelong support of people by serving as president of the resident group advocating tirelessly to ensure that every resident's needs were heard and met. To know Judi was to be welcomed into her circle; her space filled with phone calls, conversations, and the warmth of the connections she nurtured. Above all, Judi's greatest pride and joy was her family. She was their constant cheerleader, attending games, following along online, and proudly sharing their accomplishments with anyone who asked. She embodied the word "Grandma," living joyfully and wholeheartedly through each one of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Kristen (Chris) Roy of Bedford, N.H.; her son Steven (Kristi) Ferradino of Harrisburg, N.C.; her five grandchildren, Mitch, Mia, and Adam Roy, of Boston, Mass., and Michael and Noah Ferradino, of Harrisburg, N.C.; three nieces; several great-nieces and nephews, and a plethora of devoted friends. She was predeceased by her parents; her sister; two brothers-in-law; a niece and nephew; and her treasured husband, Fred.
As per her wishes, Judi has been privately cremated. Memorial calling hours will be held on Friday, December 12, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday December 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel the Archangel Church, 3040 Hamburg St, Schenectady, followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 6520 N. Andrews Ave, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., 33309-2132. Condolences can be posted at
