COHOES - Judith L. Nowik, 77, passed away suddenly Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at her residence.
Born in Astoria, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Eugenie Kocourek Whalen. She moved to this area as a young girl, and was educated in Lansingburgh schools. In 1986, Judy went to work for the U.S. Postal Service; she worked mainly in Troy, but also at other post offices around the area, until retiring in 2008. She also belonged to the American Postal Workers Union.
If anything could describe Judy, it's that she was an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved visiting her family in S.C., and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed trivia, doing crossword puzzles and going out with her friends.
Judy was the loving wife of Anthony Nowik, who passed in 1989; the beloved mother of Anthony Nowik II, of Irmo, S.C., and Angela Wilson (Paul), of Pelion, S.C.; the adoring grandmother of Nicholas Wilson (Kaylee) and Meghan Puopolo (James); and the great-grandmother of Adelaide, Lucia, Gerard and Cecilia Wilson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as a large group of cherished and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, at 8:15 a.m., from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes; and at 9 a.m., in St. Michael's Church, Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday, from 1-4 p.m.
