Karen Field Obituary

Field, Karen A. CLIFTON PARK Karen A. Field, 51, died on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at her residence. She was born on July 26, 1960 in Bronx, N.Y. and was the daughter of Patrick O'Shea of Mt. Cobb, Pa. and the late Winifred (Canny) O'Shea. Karen was a graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School and received her associates degree in accounting from Hudson Valley Community College. She was a communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church. She had worked as a special education aide at Arongen Elementary School for the past three years. Earlier, Karen had been employed as an office manager for Capital Telephone Services. Karen loved children, especially those in need of extra attention and support. She enjoyed home interior design and was an avid decorator and loved to make crafts, photo boxes and especially Christmas ornaments. Karen loved to play golf and was especially fond of playing board games with her friends and family. Karen was a devoted and loyal friend, completely selfless, loving and gracious. She always put the well being and concerns of others before her own. Above all else, she was a loving wife and mother who felt her greatest accomplishment was raising three boys, supporting them through college and seeing them graduate and begin careers. Karen was so very proud of them. She was the beloved wife of Bradley J. Field; devoted mother of Kenneth P. Field of Clifton Park, Zachary C. (Rachel White) Field of Charlotte, N.C. and Ryan B. Field of Clifton Park; caring sister of Patrick (Donna) O'Shea of Olyphant, Pa., Denis (Terry) O'Shea of Lake Ariel, Pa. and William (Barbara) O'Shea of Charlotte, N.C.; loving aunt of Ashley, Patrick, Callan, Riley, Ella Grace, Sam, Ben and Wyatt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Road, Clifton Park, N.Y. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the church, prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region, 139 South Lake Avenue, Albany, NY 12208 or to The Community Hospice Foundation, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144. Brad and family, I write this with a very heavy heart and tears in my eyes. I am so very sorry to hear of Karen's passing. My dad had just heard this weekend and let me know, he sends his condolences also. I love my friend more then I can say and I wish we had been able to see each other more over the years. I am so grateful that I made it home for our 30th reunion and got to spend time with her. I thank God for the memories we made that night, we had so much fun. I've been sitting looking at pictures from it and didn't realize how many I had taken of her. I will always cherish all of our high school memories as well. She was one special gal! Much love to you from Wisconsin...give my best to the O'Shea family and the rest of your family.

I had the pleasure of working with Karen at Arongen a couple of years ago. I used to say that I was totally indebted to her. She was not just the special ed. aide in my first grade classroom; she was an angel. The lessons she has taught me will help me throughout my life. I was out of state when I heard the sad news and couldn't make it back in time to speak with your family in person. I wanted to meet the three boys because she always had great things to say about them. Karen had an amazing presence about her that benefited everyone who knew her, kids and adults alike. Her smile and genuine caring will remain in our hearts forever. She has made all of us better people for knowing her. I'll miss hearing about her creative Christmas ornaments. I have one request for Brad - Please continue to bring home flowers when you shop. Their beauty will remind you of Karen and keep your home looking as lovely and bright as always. My prayers are with your family during this difficult time.

Brad,

Terry and I will always remember the kind and generous spirit that radiated from Karen with such abandon anytime we were in her presence.

And while she left this Earth too soon, knowing that she made the most of each and every day, and that her life's journey enriched the lives of all that knew and loved her I hope brings some comfort.

Our hearts go out to you and your family.

Love and prayers.

Brad, Kenneth, Zach and Ryan,
I am at a loss for words to tell you how much my cousin Karen meant to me. I looked up to Karen like the sister I never had, while growing up and visiting the O'Sheas every Saturday. She always made time for me even though I was 6 years younger and just wanted to tag along with the older kids. She was so supportive of me when my mom was sick and so supportive of everyone when Aunt Wini passed so suddenly. She was everyones rock. We have lost so many wonderful women in our lives to soon. My heart goes out to you guys and wish I could be there with you today to lend you support during your final good bye. You and the whole O'Shea and Field clan will be in my thoughts and prayers. Karen was truly loved and will be sorely missed. Love Vicki, Tony, Samantha, Justin and Vincent

Brad and Boys. We were so shocked to hear of your loss. Karen was such a wonderful person - mother - wife. She was loving to all and her smile infectious. Words cannot express the deep sense of loss that Dolores and I feel at Karen's passing. We will remember with great affection her friendship and the many casual times we spent sharing laughs and stories of families and friends. It is hard to understand why monumental challenges are visited on such good people. The way she handled the last two years with such courage and grace was truly inspirational. We will miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the boys during this difficult time.

Hi Bradley, Ken, Zach, and R.B.,
We will never know why we lost two great women over the past few years. I hope you find some consolation that they are serving as angels for God and helping others on earth in some way, just like they did their entire lives. We will all be together again at some point and then maybe we will better understand this mystery of faith and the afterlife. KAREN WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED. SHE WAS A GREAT LADY AND FRIEND. Dear Brad & boys,
It is true that Karen has touched so many lives in such a positive and loving way, whether at school, on the golf course, or in the neighborhood. I remember stopping by to chat on a walk and 45 minutes later, we were still talking, mostly her asking about me & my family. I walked away from our conversation that day a happier person because of her. She had that gift of making everyone feel special. She will be missed and fondly remembered by us all.

Dear Brad and Family,
We are only a small part of the "Arongen Family" but know our thoughts are felt school wide. Karen was an amazing beautiful person, inside and out. August 2, 2011

Dear Bradley, I am so sorry for your loss. Karen was the definition of class. I always told you how much I admired her and your face would light up every single time. Over the 11 years that I worked for you, my admiration grew stronger as I watched your boys grow and I watched Karen devote herself entirely to you and your sons. I would say to you, "She does so much for everyone, Brad." And, one time you said to me, "Francie if I had to list one fault of Karen's it would be that she does too much for people." Well, if that was her only fault, then it is one to be proud of. Ever time I complimented the suit, matching shirt and tie that you were wearing, your response was always, "Francie, Karen picked it out." When I had my illness years ago and you had to go on a business trip, I woke up to your beautiful wife Karen sitting on my bed with just about everything I needed in a large gift bag. Karen was beautiful inside and out. Years ago when my son graduated from high school and Karen walked into the party, she took our breath away. She was wearing a bright blue dress that matched her eyes and I remembering telling you, "Bradley, your wife is gorgeous." Your smile said it all and I will never forget your response. First of all you thanked me and then you told me how blessed you were to have her in your life. I just want you to know that my memories of Karen will never ever fade. She made a lasting impression on me--one which taught me the true meaning of how to raise a family and be a devoted wife and mother. From the bottom of my heart, I want to send my sincere condolences to you and your family. Meeting Mrs. Field and getting to know and love her was one of the most treasured gifts of my 38 years with New York State. You and your family will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Francie
