It deeply saddened me to hear that a very special person in my life passed. It was my pleasure to have known Karen as she was my supervisor at DCYF. A woman that was well-spoken and cared deeply about the lives of children and their well-being. My heart-felt thoughts and prayers to Karen's husband and her 2 sons Matthew and Christopher. My heartfelt condolences to the Takes and Pappis family. I met Karen as a teenager when I joined the Maids of Athena. We became fast friends. Karen was good-hearted and kind. I recall the many times the Takes Family invited so many to their home after Easter Services and we stayed into the early morning hours. Good times. May you all find comfort as she is with our Lord and Savior now. God Bless her.

Karen, you played a big part in my life, but now that you are gone...The love that I still have for you will just go on and on. A loving and faithful friend is a gift you shared with me and my family.

Your life sincere---your actions kind. You cared so much for everyone and always did your best. You always had a willing hand to all who needed it, and an active mind that you used to mentor so many. Goodbye to you dear Karen, you deserve eternal rest after a long and courageous fight with the beastly cancer.

May our Precious Lord Jesus embrace you in his everlasting light and give you infinite peace. Your memory will always be eternal in my heart.

Karen and I were friends in elementary school, and our mothers were friends in high school! So we always felt a deep connection. I'm glad we had a chance to get reacquainted in recent years. I was so impressed with Karen's optimistic spirit and joy in life despite battling illness for so long. My condolences to her family, may she rest in peace, and always be remembered fondly.
