Judy, Charlie, Julia, and Shashi,
You have been in our thoughts and prayers continuously since Katie's passing. I had prayed so hard for a miracle but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Although there is some comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering, we can only imagine your sense of loss right now. We hope, with time, it will get easier for you.
It was a pleasure knowing Katie for the past 13 years. She was a great friend to Rebecca and always a pleasure to be around. "When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure." (author unkown) Katie's memory will always be a treasure to us.

Words cannot express our condolences for your profound loss after Katie's couragous battle. She touched the lives of so many in such a short time with her vibrance and grace. Mostly from afar, I watched Katie grow into a happy, accomplished, self-sufficient person. I was so happy to see her building a life with Shashi; happy, but not surprised that she was prized by all her colleagues, and loved by her friends.

You so eloquantly and beautifully described Katie's life. She was an amazing friend and one of my only friends willing to travel 21 hours to Madagascar to visit me. I spent the last 8 of my 13 New Year's Eve with her. I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
